Two men were mentioned to the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, one was a [dedicated] worshiper and the other a [dedicated] scholar (1). The Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said, "The preeminence of a scholar over a worshiper is similar to my preeminence over the most inferior of you" Then the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, added, " Indeed God, the angels, the inhabitants of the heavens and the earth, even ants in their underground lairs, and even whales bless the person who teaches people the good ." Abū-ʻAmmār al-Ḥusayn Ibn-Ḥurayth, al-Khuzāʻī also heard al-Fuḍayl Ibn-ʻIyāḍ say, "A practicing (worshipping) and teaching scholar is described as 'great' in the Kingdom of Heaven."
